It’s almost fall , which doesn’t really mean much in terms of weather in Houston, but the upcoming autumnal season does herald the return of one very exciting thing for many Houstonians: football, and especially college football (although we're pretty excited about the start of basketball season as well). Whether you’re a Sooners fan, a UH Cougars fan, or a lifetime Longhorn, there’s a lot to be excited about as the season kicks off this year.

In the spirit of everyone’s favorite season, we’ve put together a list of the best college football-viewing spots in Houston. Each of the seven bars on this list dedicate game day to a specific team, meaning you’ll be in good company on game day as you root for your home team.

Main Team: The Oklahoma Sooners If you’re a Sooners fan, the best place to catch a game in Houston is at Highline Park, located at M-K-T in the heart of the Heights. The buzzy new cocktail and patio bar, situated right off of the Heights Hike and Bike Trail, is the official OU alumni bar in Houston and will host the OU Club of Houston every Saturday during football season. The buzzy bar has a list of 12 refreshing house cocktails as well as a draft beer list featuring 17 different brews, perfect libations for washing back some queso, chicken wings, and a burger or two off of Highline Park’s elevated menu of bar food staples.

Main Team: The Texas Longhorns The best spot in Houston for UT fans to catch a Longhorn’s game is the Midtown location of Little Woodrow’s. The popular sports bar is the official game watching location for the Houston chapter of the Texas Exes alumni group, so it goes without saying that you should come decked out in your best burnt orange ensemble if you’re going to venture over there on a game day. The full bar features a large selections of beer on tap, plenty of outdoor seating on its large deck, as well as a gigantic 180-inch outdoor HDTV that will provide you with a perfect picture on game day.

Main Team: The Texas A&M Aggies On game days this year, downtown Houston might as well start calling itself Aggieland. That’s because McIntyre’s Downtown is the Houston Howdy Club’s official location for Aggie football watch parties on game days this year. The full-service bar offers over 50 beers (including 24 on draft), as well as ample wine options and specialty cocktails. A custom onsite concession camper regularly dishes out pizza, popcorn, and nachos, so if you watch a game at McIntyre’s, it will feel almost the same as watching a home game from the stands.

Main Team: The Houston Cougars Fans of the UH Cougars know that one of the best spots in which to watch their team play on game day is at The Den, UH’s original on-campus bar. The bar is home to a menu that includes 30 draft beers and a full liquor selection as well as walls decked out with eight flat screen TVs and a 200-inch projection screen, which means you’ll have plenty of screens to watch on game day while filling yourself up with draft beer. The bar is also home to a pretty hefty food menu, with enough options to keep even the most ravenous of cougars well fed.

Main Team: The LSU Tigers Fans of the LSU Tigers will be happy to know that they can watch their favorite team play every game day while being surrounded by other tiger fans at Drift in the Heights. The popular ice house, which features strong island vibes, is the official LSU game watching headquarters this year. In addition to featuring a menu stacked with beachy cocktails, draft beer, and wine, Drift also has over 50 TVs spread throughout its interior and exterior, meaning you’ll never miss a second of the game.

Main Team: The Auburn Tigers If you’re an Auburn Tigers fan, the most likely spot in Houston for you to hear Auburn’s “War Eagle” battle cry on game day is at Pour Behavior, Midtown’s reigning party venue. The high energy bar is the official game day watch party location for the Greater Houston Auburn Club. Pour Behavior features a substantial food and beverage menu as well as bottle service, so you’ll have plenty to sip and savor as you cheer on your team.

Main Team: The Texas Tech Red Raiders Houston Red Raider fans can get their game on all football season this year at the Patio on Richmond, which is the sunny outdoor space attached to buzzy Montrose barbecue restaurant the Pitroom. The restaurant and bar is the official game watching location of the Texas Tech Alumni Association Houston Chapter. It’s also home to some of the best barbecue you can find in the city, as well as an expansive beer and wine selection. As we like to say, there’s bar food, and then there’s barbecue. You’ll find plenty of the latter here on game day.
